Hello everybody. I remember the GE filter-flos when I was a kid. One time, my mom did a load of wash in the minibasket on small and normal speed. Mind you, the washer had a ramped activator. During the rinse cycle, the washer made a bang, bang, bang, bang, bang type noise. I thought the washer was off-balance. It turned out that the washer was doing the rinse agitation. As always, the washer would start the agitation on gentle and then jump to normal. Does anybody remember that sound? Thank you. P.S. I would like to hear what it sounds like for memories' sake.

I remember

the sound well. But ours was a 1966 with, I assume, a straight vane agitator. Heres a vid of a mini basket wash with a ramped agitator. Second vid is of an older straight vane.

Thanks for those wonderful mini basket videos, Ken. Those of us who didn't grow up with a GE in the house missed out on the fun.

I remember that sound:

But it was in the late 70's Hotpoint machines @ my Grandmother's APT building. They had the slanted vane agitator with the hand wash AGI inside. You could always hear the clacking sound when they were washing.

downyball floating

I would also hear the downyball floating inside the minibasket too. Fond memories.
