Closer to a BOL and a re-badged GE with a Taylor Avenue backsplash. Probably from the lower end of the 1974 catalog.

In its Spartan, unlit panel looks it's not so bad in a set. I'm unfamiliar with Taylor Avenue - is that a designer?

Phil, 5600 W. Taylor St. was the location of Hotpoint's Chicago plant. Hotpoint appliances made at that location were totally different than later Hotpoint products made at Appliance Park in Louisville, KY. Production at the Chicago plant ended sometime in the early 70's, and those made after were based on GE models, with specific trim for Hotpoint.

What an interesting little bit of history to pack away. Appliance history is full of so many twists, turns and what ifs. I actually loathed history as a subject, but older now is mostly interesting. So thanks for that one, Tom! Appliance Park..did it reopen before GE sold off their appliance division? I thought they did. Oh well, that's one for me to research.

I like this transitional design...  Beats the GE-clone Hotpoint evolved into, even when it was becoming a General Electric-acquisition...

Wonder how the next-to-lowest-line model is available with a standing pilot light and the most-Bottom-of-the Line model isn't... (Or that it is even available in a Gas model, while all the other models only have Electronic Ignition for lighting the gas; via Glow Bar, I'm assuming...)

This is available in the Automatic Ephemera selections, as well as the con-current Hotpoint Complete Automatic Washer Catalog, too...
