and it says Clothes Dryer right on it. It's now sitting in my garage, no cord, condition unknown, looks ok.
That third pic is the upper right rear lint filter. |

I don't know yet. No cord attached, the seller said he bought a storage unit a few weeks ago and it was there, no history, no cord, untested. I bought it at a good price and will find out soon......and keep you posted.
IT's a D-3, 240 volt machine, so far my research says 1950 +-2 yrs?? It is NOT the "How dry I am" model |

It's black, and just decor, it's not a window!!!!!
From what little I have found so far about the D3 model, yes it sounds like too hogh a heat for modern safety, so I will be seeking info on a lower temp thermostast and added safety measures. It's still in the garage, weather is fine for leaving it there a while. |

These are cool machines, we have the exact same model. It looks like yours is in good condition Mark, I would clean it up and do some testing.
This dryer uses a thermostatic main control that has the heat control built in and is an auto-dry type system [ no timer ] so I don.t think it would be that easy or even advisable to modify the temperature this dryer runs at.
This dryer may not make the best everyday dryer for all ones laundry, but it should work for loads of cotton towels etc if it works correctly and you set the dryness control properly to avoid over drying. It would probably make a good winter dryer for adding heat and humidity to the house as these early dryers are also hard to vent effectively through more than a few feet of vent pipe.
Good Luck with it Mark and keep us posted. |
