Hi everyone.

I was just trawling through Gumtree for classic washing machines when I found this mystery machine. It's listed as a 1200rpm Hotpoint, but it clearly (as far as I can read) is an 'English Electric' however, it looks close to a Creda SupaSpeed and also features Hotpoint Aquarius WM/95 Series buttons and timer knob. Was this machine maybe an Electricity Board Shop special or a retailer exclusive machine?

Thank you.

Brandon.

well this Hotpoint/Creda hybrid design were exclusives to Comet sold around 1997/98, I think there were 2 or 3 washing machines, a washer dryer and a tumble dryer but they are quite rare models, but as it's a Hotpoint of course there's no shortage of parts for them :)

Thanks Miele4Life,

I can see it a bit more closer now looking more like a Hotpoint WM range, just with a different kickstrip and with a Creda/Electra door. Very interesting indeed.

Its a rebadged Hotpoint WM12 with a few minor alterations. English Electric had a whole line up of machines like these on sale, they did the same with the 95 series machines but the E/E versions had a grey fasica and trims instead

Hi Chris,

I can see the similarities to the WM12 now, and they did indeed do rebadged 95 series machines, the 1535 (based on 95130) and 1545 (based on the 95490) which I believe were either Comet or Woolworths exclusives.

Here is a picture of a damaged 1545W (credit goes to Electron1100 for this photo), apologies for stealing the pic :).

Brandon.
