This is how i wired our new dryer. The green wire seems superfilious. Perhaps a factor in a different installation setting, like a mobile home, as stated in the (not entirely easy to understand) installation guide.
So, does this look right?

If you have a 3 prong

plug ok.

The 4th wire is for new construction or renovation that requires a ground thru neutral as I found out when I moved in my new home April this year.

Power Cord Connection On A New SQ Dryer

Your connections are fine, The green wires are very important and are in the correct positions.

Be very sure that the three screws are good and tight, I can't really tell from your picture, but if that is a used power cord and if there is any discoloration where the eyelets are crimped to the copper wire, go get a NEW cord.

Question, why do you have an electric dryer in Southern California.

Well,

being located on the coast, it is often foggy and damp.
My mother uses the cloths line a lot, but usually in conjuntion with the dryer. So she ends up using the dryer regardless of weather.
I remember when i was a child in this same house my brother using the dryer (a Fridgidaire paired with a 118 washer) to warm his wet suit before surfing in the winter.
