After i sold my AEG öko_lavamat 6450 washer, i searched for something else to go along my Miele W1613, 10 kms from were i live i found this Vølund/Asko 445 Quattro washer for sale, only being used by 2 old couples, it looked in immaculate state, even the manual and guarantee paper was still with the washer, gave it a good clean, changed the power connection inside the washer from 400v 2 phase 3100w to 230v 1 phase 3100w, and gave it a go, and it works no unusual sound and drum bearings sound good too. This washer being a Scandinavian version it does have 2 heating elements with the 1st one having 1200w the 2nd has 1800w. and is cold fill only.

Love me some Asko's

My Asko is 18 years old now and still going strong. It's on its third motor, second belt, and second drain pump. It looks the same as yours inside, probably the same size. Under the hood is almost the same too! I love the door seal without the bellows.

Congratulations! That is the first time I have seen this model. Is this a commercial machine? Intended for communal laundry rooms? Looks like a great machine!

BTW, what kind of Biotex is that in the blue box?

Its a Domestic version, think only the motor differs from the commercial versions otherwise the inside components are the same as the commercial version.
You could get these as commercial versions, the drum and inside components was all the same as far i know, here's one, rebadged Electrolux Wascastor WE47.

Otherwise i think the one i have is a special version with Scandinavian Control panel, as like you i've neigher seen an Asko with the same control panel as mine in other countries, the rest is the same through.

Comparison between mine and the comercial version.

Thank you for these pictures. I have seen that commercial machine sometime in the past, probably only a picture. What's the difference in motors? Does the commercial machine have an induction motor?

Found a video of the commercial version of my washer, and it does sound a bit different to mine, don't know for sure.

The blue Bio-Tex box, is for both White-Colourds clothes, you can use it with temps from 30-60'C. don't know how it wil cope with 95'C but should maybe try it out.
and thanks indeed its great washer, different from the rest :-)

I guess it's the video. I have seen that before.

Funny about Biotex. In Denmark it's a detergent for all kinds of laundry. Overhere in the Netherlands they never got any further than detergents for soaking and prewashing and stain treatments.

Do you know how big that drum is? It looks rather generous in size.

Drum capacity is 4,4 KG, the drum volume is 43 Litres, so its not that big, but i can still put 1 basket of laundry in without problems :-)

Yep thats what i know aswell, they're only selling the Bio-Tex Dark blue Soaking powder and Stain treatments outside. But here in Denmark you can get the full package, maybe it could be a good idea for them to expand all their producs worldwide :-)

vid's

Some vids from the Asko.
So far i'm impressed with the wash results, things comes out clean and fresh, and with 5 high level rinses as standard things comes out well rinsed too.

The 1st one, is coloureds on Cottons 50'C.

2nd wash, a load of darks on Synthetic 40'C

Neat find!

Asko laundry appliances here in the USA do not have a great reputation; well not at least much of the modern offerings.

People complain about parts going often in just under five years and despite being sold as "lasting twenty) Asko no longer having replacements in stock. Worse often the cost of repair if the part can be found is dear, so dear persons are advised to chuck the machine and buy new.

I've heard of Asko units barely three years old with motherboards or motors going with AskoUSA basically saying "out of warranty? Tant pis...

I'm glad

my asko doesn't have computerized/digital controls!  It's all mechanical and has been VERY reliable...and relatively easy to fix what has broken over the past 18 years.

Know this is an old post...

Cheers, Alan

On the normal programme you can set it to Heavy, Normal and (S)light. Temperature is set by a separate control. There are 4 rinses and an interval spin cycle.
