We have what we believe is a 1964 wringer washer that we refurbished, and it's been working great....except it has been leaking gear oil every time I use it. We opened the transmission and it looks like this worm shaft seal is misshapen, leading to leaking.

A search on eBay and Google has yeilded nothing. Anyone know where we might be able to get something like this? We do have an email in to DavesRepair.com.

Model #: LMW6700W-0

You might check with Modern Parts in Parma, Ohio.

SHAFT OIL SEAL FOR A WP WW TRANSMISSION

First I would look up the WP part # if you are searching appliance companies that might have an orignal part in their stock.

I would also check with companies that specialize in oil seals etc, the old oil seal # you have might help them and last you may have to measure the shaft and opening the seal is pressed into and find something that fits.

I think that you will find something that works.

Thank you for the replies. For now, we've heated the
seal in boiling water and reshaped it. So far, so good. That should hold us over until a replacement is found.

As John mentioned above, if you can't find an original part most any typical shaft seal should work fine. In many cases the factory part is just a common off the shelf part anyhow.

If you can measure the shaft diameter and the bore it fits in most any bearing shop should be able to fit a common size.

McMaster Carr has a number of sizes you can peruse here:

www.mcmaster.com/#rotary-seals/=y...

Perhaps you will see something familiar there!
