dead give away......straight four vane activator....that's an 18 pounder, and those didn't show up until around the early 70's if I am correct....

More like 1972. Nice set!

GE did do a nice coppertone, and these look like they're in good shape.

Ken may have more exact dates on this set, but I believe GE went away from the round timer dial -marking and the wire clothes guard in 1974 so this set would be after.

The design of this console debuted in 1973, not certain about the retainer setup change, but I think it happened the same year.

Are they gone??

I tried to find these and it said "page not available." I can't find them.

Pictures here aren't close or sharp enough.

I think Lawrence pegged it but the problem is, as he pointed out, the control panel design from 1973-1976 hardly changed at all. The plastic retainer ring did start in 73, earlier for the commercial models. I'd bet it's the model # WWA-8300 from the 1975 line on the page below reposted from Lawrence's collection. That model is a single-speed washer with no mini-basket. The dryer is a fancier model.

If they had a shot that showed the bottom of that Activator and we could see 4 straight vanes instead of 8, we could date in more precisely; those showed up in 1976.

What confuses me the most is that edged coppertone was supposed to have been discontinued by 1972; hard to argue with a photograph.

Whatever, it's a nice basic late Filter-Flo set and I do love edged coppertone.

One correction about the color, the shaded colors lasted through the 1976 model year.  When "The New Naturals" were introduced in 1977, all of the colors lacked shading.
