So clearly the dryers out last the washers or at least not many people have gas or want it in a used machine.

most SQ through the 70's almost all looked alike, but as they transitioned near the end, the warm brown tones started taking over, and then Raytheon took over, still sort of the SQ setup, but changed over to a perforated tubs, and a whole new design inside.....

for the washer, a simple clue for a McGraw-Edison Solid Tub machine was the side opening lid, Raytheon quickly changed to rear opening.....

The first dryer was mate to a solid tub washer. My parents had the fanciest set that speed queen made at the time and looked like that. The one's they had were the last of the full light up panels too. Worst washing machine they ever had! The reversing motor would not always engage completely in wash mode and ended up wearing a groove in the transmission piece that made the agitator go back and forth. It ended up agitating in one direction and ruined the transmission. I replaced the entire transmission once and the piece in between that engages agitation, but the same thing happened again later on. Too bad they couldn't have just left the one direction motors and solenoids in the washing machines. Those were really terrific machines that lasted years and years.

Reply# 14, I think is an old "super 20".  I remember them from the mid 1970's.  2 tumbling vanes and they had a very low water level, similar to the really old coin op wascomats.  The lower front panel was chrome and perforated all over with tiny holes,  good idea  for a coin op.  They also had normal and gentle tumble, the control panels closely matched the look of the T/L.   Art
