That's a nice one with Convection.  Years and years ago I had a Kenmore Microwave/Convection Oven.  It was huge like this one but I really loved that oven.  Wouldn't mind having one like it again.

I wish the pictures were clearer.

I TRIED TO PURCHASE #3 -- THE RR-4....

newvista58's profile picture
on EBAY, when first listed. It had a Best Offer, and she would only take
$10 less than the asking price. Not too good of a "Best" to me.
Shipping was listed at $64. I really want this RR, but I have a budget, so I cant' go crazy.

She let the listing expire, and relisted w/o out shipping. I emailed and
asked if you would consider shipping as originally listed. She took forever
to respond and just said "I am not prepared to ship". \

Just what is needed.....another "Seller" who is really a "GAMEPLAYER".

What a waste!!

Best washes all,

Louis

Louis, it's probably for the best. At 80+ lbs the only way these survive shipping is if they're wrapped and strapped on a half-pallet. Otherwise, even a short drop would do serious internal damage, not to mention screw with door alignment. Your casual ebay seller usually doesn't have a clue and is looking to cash in on this RR craze with the $20 Goodwill find they brought home. -C

"$20 Goodwill find" ? Last time I saw one at goodwill it was $5 and covered in grease.

But these were quite the thing, back in the day. I think these were like the crème de le crème in microwaves, even gaining a mention in the movie "Airplane", but that looks like a JCPenny microwave in the movie.

THANK YOU ALL, FOR YOUR INFO & ADVICE....

Yes, its a shame that the Craigslist sellers mentality has
pervaded the EBAY sellers mentality. These gameplayers, or
seller wannabe's, are so frustrating. I've just really wanted
one of these RR's, since a contemporary one will not go with my
house.

My friend had one shipped from WA to NJ, and they did a
great job with the packing, and it arrived in perfect shape.

I have never seen one out and about in any vintage, thrift,
or Habitat, etc., stores. It's almost as if these were
not sold this side of the country / LOL.

Thanks again for weighing in. I guess I'll just keep my
search open and on-going.

Hope you all are having a Great Week:)

Best washes,

Louis

Amana Micro-Convection Oven

That first one is the real bargain at $12, those were $700-800 in the early 80s, I have this exact oven in the W Va home.

Considering how some sellers pack things for shipping

launderess's profile picture
You probably are best off with them not bothering. Shoving a vintage Amana microwave into any box found on the street with a few crumpled bits of paper won't do.

When one *REALLY* wants something not on eBay best thing to do is see if seller will accept PayPal or other means of payment. Then contact U-Ship or C&F and see what is to be done about shipping. C&F may cost an arm and leg but you have better chances with them of things being packed/shipped properly.

THANK YOU FOR THE ADVICE......

John & Laundress,

Yes the 80's Technology is much improved over the 1st Generation,
however in keeping with my decor, the 1st Gen would be a much
better fit. And, seeing as how I've never had a microwave and
would use it infrequently, if I did, the 1st Gen would suit
me fine.

Your point, regarding shipping, is valid Laundress, and
something I would consider. However, my friend did purchase
one that was shipped across the country; packed correctly,
it suffered no damage.

Thanks for your input, guys.

Louis
