Ge Filter Flow: WWA8858MALWH

Or

Maytag Performa: PAV2300AWW

So my question is I cannot keep both. I like the GE filter flow because of what I read online about the awsome durabilty, and once the tranny went to plastic case, the metal shavings ceased. But my brake is worn and not sure if it will hurt anything. It washes cloths good but is VERY small capacity. Drum is 13" tall by 17" wide.

I also like the el cheapo maytag performa PAV2300AWW becuase it is 3.6 CU FT and is quite large, it is cheaply made, but it is super super easy to work on. I just did the snubber ring, the thrust bearing kit, and pully kit. It took 45 min to do it all. Works like a champ now.

I have to let one go due to space issues. Which would be the keeper. The performa is a very smooth running machine for as cheaply made as it is.

GE

Truly, the GE will still be chugging when the Performa is dead.

Ok, lets up the odds, I aquired this speed queen for free, and wired in a warm water rinse. Now which would you keep?

if you added a warm rinse to the speed queen washer

If you added a warm rinse to the speed queen the the speed queen might be a better choice for a daily driver

I'd still keep the GE

though it may be blaspheme now, in the day the GE was the top rated machine.  SQ rated consistently low back then.  Though no experience with a modern SQ, I would still grab the GE for keeps.  Maybe stash the SQ in the garage for later.

So, I get it with the G.E - a tank that will never die.

However I am having trouble with the size. I cannot wash a bed set in it without being overloaded.

The performa fits a whole bed set and then some. The Speed Queen does too, but it is just a tad smaller than the performa.

What makes the performa so bad? It has a normal sealed motor, like they all do. And the tranny is metal with some plastic parts, just like the filter flo.

Explain why the performa is junk?

Performa was former Norge I beleive-When Maytag took them over-the Norge quality went down drastically. These machines had a high failure rate.

So.....the maytag performa is gone. What should I do to the GE to store all winter. I do not want anything to freeze, or have any seals fail.
