I saw this on reddit where it wasn't getting much attention. I figure we can help these guys out by answering about our primary machine (since so many of us have dozens of them).

I wish the survey would of inquired about cleaning, rinsing and extraction capabilities. All the "interface" in the world makes no difference if the end product fails reasonable expectations of the consumer.

Seems to me they wanted to survey programmed cycles vs manual selection.

I think it all comes down to user preference. I find that a machine which automatically selects things for me, depending on cycle selection, is a little frustrating to use. (Even though the options selected don't make any sense.)

"Damnit, Why can't I have a high spin speed on the permanent press cycle?!?" :-)

Ideally, I like the idea of having many different settings across many different knobs which allow me to pick any combination of speeds, water temperatures, etc even if they don't make any sense.

GE had a great idea in that they "colour" co-ordinated all of the settings on the dials so I knew what settings to pick depending on the cycle. I could choose them, or just do my own thing. (Maybe I WANT to use the Delicate cycle but normal speed!)

Yeah, I agree. I always had a special appreciation for any machine where the speed selector was independent of the timer.
