Hi, I have the older Maytag washer with the flat dark brown panel with chrome trim. My uncle is getting rid of his 20 year old Maytag washer but its the all white newer style. Just wondering if the large rotary selector switch is the same assuming the same cycles. If they might be the same I'd like to grab the part before it gets picked up tomorrow. (even if the contacts in the switch are alike it would be good for parts)

My uncles not too smart sometimes. The washer wasnt getting water so he thought it was the valve, still didnt work so ordered a new washer then found the problem today to be a blockage in the water shut off in the wall so nothing wrong with washer but he said well its 20 years old anyway. Could that be the wife telling him to get a new one:)

This washer is older than 20 years - this panel style came out in 1981'ish.

There should be a part number stamped on the timer body that you can match (or not) with the timer in your machine.

Wouldn't hurt to save the whole panel if this washer is getting junked.

I second the notion!

If there isn't anything wrong with the washer, why not save the entire machine? If not for yourself, than maybe for someone else here who would appreciate that machine.

Yes! Save it!

Every time a good oldie is destroyed and replaced by a modern junker there is one fewer good oldie in the world! And, eventually, there are no longer enough of them to go around. :(
