I have a Miele W304 that has always worked perfectly.
I moved house and the machine went into storage for 3 years.

Now I want to use it again but the drum will not budge at all, either by hand or on a cycle (the rinse light flashes, the water drains and the End light comes on). It is clear to me that the drum not turning is causing the machine to finish the cycle in complaint.
If I try to turn the drum by hand it feels stuck fast, as if physically secured somehow, but the transit bolts are definitely not in place.

Is there anything else that can stop the drum completely other than the storage bolts?

Any recommendations kind people?

Thanks in advance

When u open up your machine, you could try to undo the belt. If you can turn the drum by hand, nothing is wrong with the drum, but the motor is blocked by something or the motorbearrings are stuck. If the drum still doesn't turn. Try to acces the drum by the drainhole or fill hole. Uncouple the hoses and check if you can find any you've lost during previous washes, like a key, coins, bolts, etc. If that doens't work, probably the mainbearrings are seized. But before you go and start the big work, just check these things.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have to confess I have no idea how to even take the belt off - even after the aid of a youtube video or two! (missing some vital tools, methinks)
From what I've said, do you think it's worth getting someone to look at it, or should I just be buying a new machine?

Thanks again

motor

not familiar with style of motor used on a w304,but if it is induction motor, those can accumulate rust in the "air gap"between the rotor and stator when stored in a damp area-a wrench can be clamped on the pulley and rust-seized rotor "cracked loose"Brushed motors usually have wider "air gap'and less prone to seizing from condensation rust.

So, I'm buying a new one then! Thanks. :-)
