The price in pounds is

£132/6/- (one hundred and thirty two pounds and six shillings or 30p in decimal coinage). However this is an Australian advertisement not UK where the price would have been around £85.00 for the equivalent machine.

I believe that the AUS pound had a different exchange rate to the UK pound but I don't doubt that Hoover priced it at what the market would bear at the time.

Different markets

Spotted this following Laundress's link above, which is the new styled second series Hoovermatic. Nothing strange there you might say until I noticed that the heater control is not thermostatic as it was in the UK - it was not until a couple of years later that the Hoover 65 came along in the UK with no thermostat and lower grade heater.

Changes

The ad above is apparently 1961. By 1963 the Australian plant is open and they are making (or assembling) Hoovermatics themselves. But this is the American style Hoovermatic not the UK style which was somewhat different.
