Having sold a Logic earlier this year, an A3888, I am left with an early timeline 1200 machine that I fully reconditioned last year.

Since finishing it, I have taken many months to finally run a test wash. All is good, other than two leaks at the new door seal, where the seal contacts the door.

The seal leaks at the points marked on the glass in red. I have tried to pull at the rubber to stretch it and create a better seal but it has not worked. Would a hot was soften the rubber? Any ideas?

Hi,

I had the same problem with my Hotpoint 9560. I found that a boil wash or two allowed the door seal to form a better seal against the door.

Give it a go.

James

I have this same problem on my Computer control and have tried 2 different door seals now. Apparently I am reliably informed that this is not an unusual problem for these machines. I did think that my door might have warped or buckled a bit but it seems ok.

I tried tucking in a rolled up piece of cloth in the seal itself to help push it tight against the glass bowl which stopped the leaking but is not really a permanent solution. I have left it in place in the seal in the hope that when it is next used it will form a better seal with the door. Perhaps a couple of hot washes with this in place would do the trick.

If its a door seal with no clothes nubs at the top and the same all the way round you could loosen it and turn it round then tighten up but first I would gently use fine sandpaper to roughen it up just on the lip area, found its worked a few times for me!!!

Also make sure the door glass is free from any limescale, that can cause small drips as well!!

Fixed...hopefully

Thanks for the advice guys. Ran a boil wash then a 60 degrees wash. No leaks. Maybe the heat softens the rubber and slightly reshapes...

The last photo posted above, the machine looks immaculate.
Even all the text looks perfect, no fades, scratches or smears.
Looks almost museum showcase worthy!

Thanks for the kind comment. I rebuilt that machine after it spent years in a damp kitchen. It still had its original door seal but it was very mouldy. I've mainly replaced the bearings, pump and a load of little bits. It has cleaned up well. There is a tiny bit of rust bubbling above the kick strip but it is hardly noticeable and a tiny dent on the front but you would be hard pressed to see it. Fortunately, the fascia is in really good nick.
