Depending upon conditions used and or how the machine is stored yes, that aluminum tub will oxidize. However it won't affect your washing I shouldn't think.
My Hoover TT has a nice shiny aluminum tub that was dulled after using some Cheer powdered detergent (with Colourguard...). Chlorine bleach, highly base and or acid pH substances will affect aluminum. Basically all the same warning you have for using cookware made from the stuff. While always loved Maytag wringers would prefer a washer with a porcelain tub. This auction should be interesting to watch. A few other members have nabbed NIB Maytag units but do not know what was paid. Unless one lives locally figure close to or perhaps more than the opening bid price for shipping. Don't know if one wants a wringer washer that badly to pay nearly (or over if bidding becomes fun) one grand. |
