Finally got a chance to upload the pics from my camera, and last week I removed the stainless inner tub to inspect my 2013 model year AWN412SP, low and behold there is little orange dots of rust starting near the 3M-560 sealer that factory uses. See pic below:
When I did the seal and tub on the 2007 model year AWS44NW, the rot appeared to start UNDER the sealer, which over time rotted the tub flange out, allowing the bearing to break loose and elongate the hole.
My point of this post is that for a 2013 model that was used exclusively on high quality municipal water, it should not begin to rust this fast. I am beginning to wonder if the 3M-650 sealer is hygroscopic, and keeping the metal moist under it? I am wondering if solvent based marine boat hull / transom sealer might be a better choice, instead of the poly based 560.
Its under warranty so I am not overly upset, but it is a bummer the rest of the machine is so decent but they have this poor design area.
