Do I need to hunt down a replacement burner coil, or does this sound like a problem in the switch?
This is the beauty with the problem. It's the big burner front/right side. (The one I use the most!) It normally heats right up in a few seconds!

Sounds like you have a switch problem. I don't have parts info for this range, but if you unplug the range and remove the panel behind the controls, there should be a part number on the switch body.

Someone may chime in with the part number before you have to do that, it's a beautiful range and I'll bet you won't have much trouble getting it right again. Well worth saving, for sure.

If it's not too much trouble, you can swap right front and left rear coils and see what happens.  If this reveals a bad switch for RF, you could possibly swap the LR and RF switches until you can find a replacement.

I went to swap the non working burner, with the one in the left rear, and in the process found the problem. One of the wires that go into the three wire plug was disconnected. Fixed that, and I am back in business! Thanks!

Excellent News!

That used to happen every once in a while on my mom's '49 Westinghouse over the 60 years that she owned it.  One wire had almost no slack left in it by the time I passed the stove along to another member here.
