.
I wonder what gems, somewhere out there, have ended up in the crusher today, for just pennies a pound..

Kind of ironic that there are no vintage machines. Either the vintage ones are still in service, hiding in someone's basement to be rescued or are long gone.

I wonder how many of those are still working and got replaced for a matching set or the "Young Couples" just feel they're old and ugly.

Both my old ones went to get rebuilt and sold. A semi pro washer repair guy snapped up my Whirlpool 90 dd, and I gave the dryer to my mom but she freaked because it got water in it.
Lil sister took her to a used/rebuilt washer shop and they sold her a refurbed dryer that matched her Whirlpool she bought at Costco in 95. Cost her 300 bucks vs free and wait for it to dry out but she was happy.
I'm sure they dried it out and rebuilt it to sell as they took it away so everyone's problems were solved.
I hate to just throw away anything useful to someone else as I've been that someone before.

I'd be tempted to find myself a junk appliance just so I could get a better look at the undertaker.
