Will be joining the Speedqueen club soon. It was this website two years ago that spurred my interest in old school washers again. I made an introduction back then but I forgot everything. Noodle gears slipping.
Anyway, our Maytag Neptune finally went kaput after 11 years of faithful service today. Thing sounds like a jet engine taking off so I guess the bearings are gone. So wife was happy that it finally died, haha, but I had no grudge against that washer. It did what it was supposed to without issue.

So based on peoples recommendation back in 2013, we ordered the top of the line digital model and must say I'm curious to see how well it does.

Well, I hope the new year is treating all of you well. See you Saturday:)

Below is my post on a different vintage site after having visited here. Old school shaving.

Beautiful! I can't wait to get my new washer and dryer in the next year! Mine sounds like an airplane taking off, too!

Congrats.

Please post your thoughts on the new machine once you have used it for a while.

Thanks everyone. I'll report back after a bit. So far so good. Laundry smells like cotton again & not burnt laundry detergent. Loving it! :P
Cheers!

welcome to SQ world.

I've had mine six years (still mechanical controls and I raised the water level). It replaced a 32 yr. old Maytag. I have to say I love the way it washes and I especially like the higher spin speed. My only complaint is the "warm" setting in winter...it's not warm. (the ground water here in West Virginia becomes very cold after November) I know it can be modified, but I'm not skilled in that department.
