Late 1970s - all gas range. This is unusual in that the grill (Broiler) was set into the top and had to be raised to use. It has a rotisserie too, and the price is certainly right

And the price of this is certainly NOT right - £50 and a reserve - I will not be holding my breath waiting for this to sell. That said, it is 1975 or around that time and these single oven versions are much less common than the double

Maybe not old enough to be a classic - 1990s I think or maybe late 1980s. Its a surprise to see it was made in Britain

This does go back to the 1970s, mid 1970s I think. One of the few processors to have a whisk attachment which actually works

More like 1970s than 1950s. I am not sure if this is 240volt or not - looks like an American cable on it.

Until recently I had one of these (now passed on to a new home) maybe slightly older and I can tell you it still worked like a charm and amazingly quiet. This one does not have a heater and the flex needs replacing - mine went the same, the inner cores are fine, its just the outer cover that's bad. Its by no means cheap, but these are great washers
And mine did NOT tangle the clothes either, not a single item! CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK on eBay |

Not sure I like the colour here. I think this is a vintage kitchen that has been re-installed - I am getting a vibe of someone who appreciated MCM design installing it as a replacement for a later kitchen. Whatever, for someone who likes the colour, the price is certainly right. Watch out for Sharon, Tracey & Dorien when you go to pick it up :)

A possibility for someone wanting to re-create an old kitchen out of new carcases. The shorter doors and drawers are fine for 72cm high cupboards, the slightly taller ones maybe not so good. Don't like this green either!

The Braun is not a KM 32 as advertised, but a KM 3 or 31 (blue accents), made from 1957 - 1964. The slicer/shredder is from the same generation Kitchen Machines. The other attachments are from the KM 32 series (green accents) that was made from 1964 - 1993.
I don't know about the KM 3 and 31 series, because I never got to use one of those, but the KM 32 is definetely not a very noisy machine. If it's noisy, it might be time to change the carbon brushes. |

Thanks as ever for your input. I have the earlier machine (like this) which will certainly give the Kenwood Chef a run for its money in the noise stakes. It is interesting your comments about the green accents on the accessories as I think some of mine are the same. I am not sure that I have seen the later version on ebay although I cane see it in my memory Al |

In the Netherlands and in Germany the KM 3 and 31 series are rather rare. The KM 32 series was very popular, so you see still a lot of those.
Here's an overview of both models on a Dutch website. members.chello.nl/k.karssen2/Brau... Here's the translation in English by Google Translate: translate.google.com/translateQU... Here are some ads on the German eBay site, machines and parts of the KM 32: www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de... |

I am trying to work this one out. It looks like a regular hand mixer (and I have seen one similar listed elsewhere) with regular beaters and "stick blender" attachment. It looks like the mixer would power the processor as the drive is on the top, but a regular stand appears to be missing for the mixing bowl in the listing. And I cannot work out what the second power unit is for, yet it appears all complete

Well in slightly different clothing. This Indesit washer dryer looks to me to be from the mid 1980s, or at least the design is from that era I think. Why, because I owned one very similar, branded Philips, which I bought in 1984 - also vented - with exactly the same programme layout and even the door catch was the same although the control panel was in brown (and rather different looking) in line with the Philips range at the time. This was also sold in Eire as a Thor.
These have a weakness, as I discovered. There is a little pipe runs from the bottom of the door boot into the front edge of the drum. With the constant vibration of spinning this quickly wears through (within in a year I would say) to provide a ready leak - a conventional boot would have been better. But a rarity now. I didn't even know there was something like a Lavatherm 3100! How BOL can you get! This was never sold in the Netherlands and I wonder about Germany. Overhere the BOL model was the 3200, that had more push buttons/options (signal, low temperature and a button for the door opener). The 3200 was a timer model too, the 3300 had sensor drying, the 3400 had lights for the humidity level. All vented models. The 5000 series was the condenser line.
I can't make anything either of that Philips box. I've never seen it before. Thanks for sharing, great to see all the interesting stuff that turns up. |

Seems to be a "Seal A Meal" type contraption. We had them on this side of the pond as well.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-DAZEY-Se... Dazey along with almost everyone and their mother offered these gadgets. You filled the plastic bags that came with these units with whatever food or what not then placed it on the lower edge of the bottom. Then you brought down the top which "sealed" the bag. You could now place the bag in freezer, fridge or wherever to store. IIRC many or some of these bags were microwave oven and or boiling water safe. In essence you were making your own "frozen" or whatever meals in a bag. You just put the whole thing in microwave or a pot of boiling water and, Voila! An instant meal. Like many kitchen gadget of the 1970's or so the idea was to save money. Instead of a housewife buying ready made frozen foods in packets at supermarket, she could do her own at home. Other uses were for storing leftovers, packing away meats and other foods for freezer storage and well you get the idea. They were also promoted as way to take advantage of savings by purchasing things in bulk. A variation of these seal a meal gadgets are vacuum sealers. Basically the same operation except the devices suck air out of packet before you seal. Again the idea is to provide better long term storage of foods, in particular those you are going to freeze for long periods. So if salmon steaks are on good offer this week at Tesco's you purchase several, cook up one or two for that night's meal then vacuum seal and freeze the rest for another time. Have had both in past and tend to prefer the vacuum version better. Got a Food Saver system NIB from a thrift several years ago. It does the job but you cannot do breads and such as the vacuum literally sucks them flat.... |

Hoover spin dryer:
That spin dryer is a Thomas product: www.robert-thomas.de/elektrogerae... Air dry function: This function just makes the machine spin for a longer time. My LG Turbodrum can spin up to 3 hours when the Air dry function is selected. While spinning it sucks a bit of air through the clothes, that's all. I can tell you it's not very effective in the sense that it totally dries the laundry, but it helps achieving somewhat drier laundry. |

To all who contributed up the thread - it always bothers me that I might miss some classic somewhere along the way.
Louis I did not notice how BOL that AEG was as I was so struck by the deep down filer door, having never seen that arrangement before. I wonder did someone from here buy that Philips unit, there were two bidders - neither of which was me - although I was tempted just to see what it was like. And thank you fro the information about the Hoover dryer, it just does not look right to me for that style of dryer with the Hoover name on. Do you know were there many Spinarinses sold in the Netherlands? Or hoovermatics come to that? Laundress I will forever associate you with "helmet hair" now having seen that box. I think we has something similar over here but they were not widely popular as I recall. As I keep spare pillows and bedding in vacuum bags I can easily see what you mean about the bread Steve I always had a soft spot of those 3310E Hoovermatics even when they were on sale but I guess with two "washdogs" in the garage another would be just plain greedy. There has already been a conversation about those scrappers especially as their was a 1504 amongst them but the general consensus was too far gone. That LG looks interesting and it would almost be worth getting just to see what it was like but it would be an expensive curiousity |

Older AEG dryers sometimes had a drop down door or this bigger door. IIRC in 1982 all AEG dryers got the bigger door, but had the smaller opening like the dryer in this picture. Later models with the square buttons got the bigger door opening. Here are two pictures of those square button models, one model with the smaller opening and a later model with the bigger one.

I've browsed auction sites for many years and in all those years I never came across a Spinarinse. Only once I found a Hoovermatic. I tried to purchase it, but things went wrong when the owner discovered his kids were trying to get rid of his much loved washer! The model was a T5004, with the orange accents.
The reason they didn't catch on here, was probably the popularity of the AEG Turnamat. |

I thought the same about the scrappers but you never know. The 1504 might look bad but could be OK under the bonnet - and there is always the possibility of transplanting various stuff like the 4-pole motor into a newer machine or visa versa or getting some spares off it. Looks like the indicator cord has gone and the special nut is missing too but easily replaced. I'd be tempted if it had been closer and if the innards were ok I'd take the cabinet off one of the newer machines to replace although I've got enough projects lined up lol
Out of all of them, the twinnie and the spinarinse seem to be the least knackered! Always good to know these things are still tucked away somewhere - would just be better if they'd been better protected. Steve |

Steve I did wonder looking at the state of those machines whether they'd suffered in the Christmas floods in the Todmorden area. Hopefully someone will put that poor 1504 out of its misery. Ian |

I really suppose it is personal preference .
Personally I would prefer the larger rings at the front purely from the fact stirring a large pan of food requires more effort and if the pan was at the back it wold be more strenous to do so and to see the pans contents as you stirred. Not to mention having to reach over any smaller pans on the front rings if they were being used. Not to mention a large pan on a back ring often means trouble as the wall behind the cooker can often stop a pan from being centred on the ring. The only gripe I would have is that being right handed I would find it awkward to have the dials on the left. My 7 month old Bosch Induction hob is absolutely perfect in that the largest ring is at the front next to a medium sized and those two I use for everday cooking for the two of us as it invariably means a large pan for boiling various forms of starchy foods and a medium pan for vegetables OR the large one for sauteing or frying foods and again the smaller one for accompanying vegetables. The medium and small rings at the back of the hob are often ideal for keeping warm or gentle heating of foods that dont require much attention and thus strain. |

I think this must be an early 1970s kitchen as the worktop is the same as my parents had in their kitchen which was re-fitted in 1974. I suspect the price was set by a similar (orange) kitchen on for the same price but it is open to offers. Interesting way to make use of the corner by having a larder opening into the adjoining space

I have not seen the burners on this before, looks like the one at the front is a simmerstat type. The right hand "oven" is not an oven at all, its just a warming compartment. The grill (broiler) folds up from the centre of the splashback CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK on eBay |

Leonard's were also made or rebadged and sold in Canada perhaps longer than they were in the US. ... Phil knows something about them.
Same with the IONA blender, they were sort of a discount brand and sometimes rebadged as Sears and other chains lower cost blenders vs the rebadged Osters or Sunbeams |

Steve
That Jackson cooker has a lot of memories for me as we had almost exactly the same cooker from 1965 to 1974, only ours had a taller splashback with a timer on it - the timer box stuck out the back so it made the cooker sit out about 5 or 6 inches from the wall. My aunt Jean had this exact cooker only all in cream as was ours. It was late 1950s rather than 1960s as my parents bought ours second hand. The large rectangular place was a combination hot plate & grill (broiler) - there was a deflector you inserted underneath if you wanted to use it as a hotplate. The whole top lifted of for cleaning, the solid plates were plug in. The drawer under the oven was heated, there was a great big rocker switch on the RH side and the indicator (in the centre of the handle) flipped over to show it was on - it was red rather than black when on. The oven on this example looks remarkably clean! Al |
