These machines are from a shop in Indiana called 3 Stray Cats Antiques and were featured on Retro Renovation's Facebook feed. It looks like someone is gonna buy them at the $800 asking price. Damn straight considering they came rarely used from a lake house. True beauties indeed.

I believe that is the set (in White) my former neighbor Thelma had before they got the GE Versatronic set in the late 60's. |

Wonderful find - they are very stunning. IIRC that Modern Parts had some Hotpoint parts around but I'll bet they're mostly all gone now. Larry (RIP) always said that HP was one of his favorite brands to work on.
I'll bet this 57 washer still has a scent of Beam left in it, though HP gradually got away from Beam sourcing as the 50's marched on. |

Greg is spot on. '55 and older machines are all Bean (with the exception of a '55 test mule BOL washer), and the '56 and '57 Hotpoints used transmission parts from Beam, and their own parts for the drive section. Everything is pretty much Beam (transmission, pump, motor), with the exception of the crazy clutch.
By '58 they had moved to their own transmission that was used up until the Chicago washer line was killed off in favor for the re-badged Louisville GE washers in the 70's.

Hello! Please don't hate me for owning these. We are so in love, but are having some difficulties finding parts. Anyone can help? We are doing a complete mid century renovation in our 1957 home and had to have these machines. My husband is a great fixer upper of all things, but finding parts is proving difficult. We need a pump for the condensing dryer. Help... Anyone?
