i had to replace the plastic ring or top that goes on the outer tub of my 1-18 with a used one. the top fits the same but the lint filter that i have wont fit the new plastic ring. the orig one slid in on the sides and locked in the center, but the new ring takes a less wider one that slide and locks in the center? any ideas? must have a model or year change or something..here is a pic of the old one..does anyone out there have a diff filter that they would like to sell??

I think you might need the "bed-of-nails" style filter for the tub ring you have now... I'll check the filter box for you!

Lint Filters

I purchased one replacement filter two years ago so I would have a backup on the WC-DT I owned, they are a pain to clean if left for a while. Both fit the machine. I gave the machine to some very good friends along with both filters, in exchange for an antique oriental carpet. The difference I noticed on the new one versus the old one is the lack of blue lettering, but did not look at anything else dimention wise. I will try to compare the the new versus old and get back to you if there seems to be a difference. I am sure they would not mind to part with the new filter if a 1-18 presevationist wanted it, they may need you for parts someday. Phil 315.254.8274 Call to remind me, its OK to do so what with Memorial Day coming and all!!

That "bed 'o nails" lint filter is a nuisance to clean---actually worse than the Whirly "MagicMix". I just leave the one on my machine out. Would be nice to rig the re-circulated water that normally goes to the filter-----to a Blackstone type fan spray! Well, on second thought-----with the 1-18's tendency to suds-lock that might not be too good an idea.
