GE had square reinforcing spacers on the other side of the inner basket, which while it added great strength, would retain water droplets and dirt. The machine would develop an oder when hot water was not used for some time, and it was not uncommon to see occasional black floaters in the water. I wish I took a pic of the inner basket when pulling it out a few years latter. Here is what the reinforcements look like at 4:23:
The model I had was a 1998 and it was single speed. Going into spin was always the high winding so my machine did not have this advantage. The delicate cycle was also high speed agitation with no pauses or soaks. |
