Well done. This is my favourite version of the Hoovermatic after many happy hours helping my friends mum when I was much younger. Good luck with it and keep us posted

After some help please gents!

Thanks for your responses so far, that's a really nice machine there sesteve, my mum had the exact same one so this is why I had to grab one when I saw it.

It's well loved but not in bad nick however, but if anyone has a picture of how the interlock mechanism should look underneath the spinner cowling I'd be very grateful, the previous owner has had this removed as it packed up and just held the lid down to spin. I have found a NOS part arriving next week but have no reference on how it goes together. I replaced one on a T5090 I had years ago so I know it's not to bad a job.

The other issue is the pump, it's a nasty pattern part job and leaks like a sieve, very cheap plastic body too and has had the pipes tightened up too much and the connection spigots are all out of shape. I know decent ones are like hens teeth these days bit if anyone had a spare or knows where I can purchase a decent replacement, I'd be very grateful.

I'm glad I have it, it'll be a cracking machine when it's working again

Cheers!

Hello Ed, another fine example of a Hoovermatic by Hoover, easy to keep serviced and have scanned the pages for you but I guess many of us he would say if its working by lid only(and being operated safely by an adult) then would keep as is, those interlocks with ball chain linkage where problematic at best, all the ones I knew the owners kept a little knife handy to release that mechanism when playing up, they need the clearence tolerance to be perfect to work regularly, but also understand how we need to keep all original features working when we can....

The original pumps are almost NLA, pattern pumps usually in supply from Qualtex, Homespares and stock on the shelf in shops where you can find them, usually a pump can be taken apart and given a clean, some sealant, a washer perhaps to avoid leakages but then if ya didnt have a little splash of water from a Hoover Splashmatic then it aint been a good washday !!

Hi Mike, thanks so much for the info there, I really appreciate it. Nice looking machine you have there as well. I've found a few parts online and hopefully a new pump as well but I'll refurb the existing one anyway and will keep you posted on the results.

Cheers!

Ed

So Far.....

Well... Last night it became 'that bloody twin tub...!' but after a bit of fettling it's coming on.

1: Replaced the hose from the autorinse inlet to the spout (it snapped in half when I inspected the original!)

2: Fitted new interlock lever under the top mask of the spinner - this took some adjustment and fiddling about but now works as it should.

3: Fitted new mains cable

Yet do to:

1: Rebuild pump; I have ordered a new pump base, seals and impeller from a small repair shop - got the whole lot for a fiver - bargain!

2: Fit new outlet hose

3: Sort out the wash timer cable, the timer works but only turns back to '0' as and when it feels like doing so. I can feel the cable is turning to drive the gears in the timer but it is just worn and loose I think.

It'll never be a spotless machine and I'm sure it will have it's quirks when I do a wash in it but I'm looking forward to seeing how she runs at the weekend!

T5054 user instructions

Hi gents,

I don't suppose anyone has a manual for the above machine that they could scan in for me please? Or I'll happily purchase a manual from someone if they have one going spare?

Many thanks

Ed

Hello Ed, sounds like all going to plan with the Hoovermatic, great to hear.

Is it for the above Hoovermatic T5024 or for the later T5054 that you want a usuer manual for ? am sure we have them between us and can scan...

Hi Mike,

That would be grand, thank you! It's for the 5054 if that's available please? I'm planning to pop it on eBay soon and if a newbie ends up with it, the handbook would be useful.

Cheers

Ed

Hi Mike,

Any joy tracking down the manual at all? I'm also after a grey autorinse nozzle for the fill hose if you know the whereabouts of one please?

Cheers

Ed
