The Warner's Stellian guys brought me my new SQ set today. I am floored, these machines are amazing beyond my expectations. The very thorough cleaning and rinsing are amazing. As is the capacity, build quality and speed with which I can process laundry. Here are a few pics.
1. Maiden wash
2. 2nd large load wash.
3. SQ Heavy Duty Commerical
Again on cloud nine.

I didn't realize that the washer door opened opposite from most washers.

Enjoy Nick.

They're Beautiful. The Control Panel has some what the same styling as my Miele 4842.

Very Sleek and "Futuristic" Lines. Happy Washing.

Is the dryer door reversible? The washer on the right and dryer on the left would be perfect in my set up. I'd love to get a SQ but unfortunately not available in Canada except under the Huebsch brand name where the control panel has nothing but symbols for cycle selection, etc. which I find ridiculous to try and interpret.

The dryer door is reversible, I did it to ours. Just follow the directions in the manual. You may want to pre tap the new threads by screwing in the screws once in their new locations before you install the door to the new side. It easier to over come the resistance without the door getting in the way.

Congrats!

Have fun with your new set!

@Countryguy

I saw the symbols you mentioned. WTF?! No thanks. Give me words, even if it's a first-for-me language. I've tried the symbol/icon thing with web browsers.... I learn the words WAY faster than I memorize arbitrary pictographs.

That was one thing I loved about the OLD Opera web browser. One could turn off symbols completely and just leave words in the language of choice.

Can you imagine trying to operate the washer/dryer for the first time without having the instruction manual to explain what all the symbols mean? It's crazy. I don't know what they were thinking.

Old 1970's era Canadian GE Filter-Flos had the same issue. They had all kinds of arcane symbols on the timer so you knew what was what. I remember there was a guide under the lid so you could figure out what the symbols meant. Some of them were intuitive.

I think if I were to own one of these machines, I'd have a laminated guide sheet permanently attached to the front of the control panel, so I could at least figure out what everything was for.

I really don't understand the point of using symbols only. I know Canada is supposed to be multicultural but really...this is going overboard. What is wrong with using English/French...after all they are our 2 official languages. Would people that don't understand English or French really be able to understand just the symbols?

couldn't the touch panels be switched out for a US one?....

that would be something I would request from the dealer wanting to make a sale....

have done it with a number a purchases, from appliances to automobiles...you may find one dealer who wont, but another who would.....

can't hurt to ask....

one thing that gave me a chuckle, fill hoses included......amazing how many machines out there now that you have to purchase separately.....

I got a new stove a few years back, broiler pan was optional!....WTH?

Timer Countdown

mrb627's profile picture
How does the panel display the countdown when the cycle exceeds 60 minutes? Do the minutes just go up to 99? Or does it display 1h then whatever minutes are left?

And for that matter, if you option out your cycle, what is the maximum number of minutes you can get?

So far I am absolutely in love with these machines. Here are a few observations.

Noise: Nothing short of amazing. Virtually silent washing, drain pump is not loud al all. Spin is surprisingly smooth and quiet considering the machines are on the second floor and on pedestals. The dryer is also very quiet.

Washing: So far the washer out performs the WP TL it replaced very handsomely. Clothes come out cleaner, dryer and better rinsed. I can also wash 1.5 times as much in 1 load saving a lot of laundry time.

Drying: Another A plus here. Clothes are dry in 1/2 the time of the old machines due to a higher spin speed and more powerful dryer. Also they don't come out of the dryer with a baked smell like the old one.

I will write more later but have to go before I miss a spin cycle.

How Wash Times are Displayed for > 1 Hour

If you select sufficient wash options to exceed 99 minutes, the timer displays the time by alternating between the hours and minutes showing "1H" for the hour, then "XX" for the additional minutes. In addition you can pick sufficient options, such as "Whites", "Max" soil level, "Soak", "Pre-Wash", "Second Rinse", and "Third Rinse" to push your wash cycle time to 1 hours, 55 minutes. Just long enough to go to the movies!

These look so cool but

mark_wpduet's profile picture
I just noticed something. NO matter why way the dryer door is rotated, it won't matter, because the washer door (when opened) would sort of be in the way, for moving wet clothes to the dryer, NO?

Why does this washer door open this way instead of most of them? Just curious.

Well, ideally

The washer is to be positioned to the right of the dryer, then the dryer door is reversed to open to the left, and it works. :-)

Thinking back

mark_wpduet's profile picture
to all of the places I've lived, the washer was always on the left, the dryer on the right. I've never thought about it until just now. In my current house, the dryer would HAVE to go on the right.

Maytag did it that way for years and years and years...

Because my front loader has the door hinges on the left, I had to put the washer on the left, dryer to the right but ideally it should be reversed since the dryer exhaust is on the left and the washtub is to the right of the dryer.

Congratulations!

You won't regret your decision. I got the last of the top-loaders with the mechanical timer just under three years ago. Both the washer and dryer work quickly and flawlessly.

I swear by Whirlpool for other household appliances. But for the price of everything nowadays, washers and dryers should be of laundromat quality.
