Picked up a Bisque color Maytag Neptune today (Tuesday) Yes, I did pay the $225 but I couldn't resist. The store is one of the last "Mom and Pop" appliance stores in NH that sells and repairs appliances. The owner is a retired Navy man in his 20th year in business. Very nice guy. I asked him how the business was doing. He said busy. Right now he has two younger individuals he's training to sell and repair appliances, so the business will continue when he eventually retires. He primarily sells Speed Queen. He said Speed Queen took the title as the best made after the Neptune model ruined Maytag. (which I agree) I took a look at the Speed Queens and they are nice. Not like the "weak" plastic shit you see in the big box store. Nice to see really metal in an appliance!
Model # MAH7500AWQ / Serial # A9765138EA, which dates it Jan 2004. Per Glenn, an older woman purchase a new dryer and after a week, didn't like that the washer didn't match the dryer, so she purchased a new washer. He said he never takes in a trade but this one was exceptional. The interior is mint. I had him run the Maytag on the max spin and not a sound came out of it. It was extremely quite. At the end I felt good that I purchased from him because is one of the last "in his breed" of the local appliance / repair shop and per my purchase helped him continue his business. still a great machine at that price.....that 'Stain Brain' alone plus all the features of variable cycles and options....
you DIDN'T go wrong......these models are rare to find in good condition.....I have yet to come across one.... worst case, some day is may need bearings, but their cheap enough, and easy to do.... an excellent cleaning machine from a time period when water temps are not dubbed down, in fact, their increased(Auto temp control), and uses plenty of water... just take note, it will start with a small amount of water, for a concentrated scrub, and then add more as the wash phase continues.... heater and extra rinse if needed...... now the search for the matching dryer......
