Take the advice provided by those who have recommended the Whirlpool makes with lint screen access on top. It's a tried and true design that should provide lasting service.
As was stated above, any dryer with lint screen accessible from the top, regardless of brand, is made by Whirlpool. Just look for a new dryer with that feature at the best price, whether it's an Admiral, Amana, Estate, Kenmore, Maytag, Roper or Whirlpool (or under their Canadian badges if they happen to be different from those sold in the U.S.). |

Linked at the bottom is the top filter dryer, everybody here is raving about, for sale in Montreal. Directly below is a delivery service. montreal.craigslist.ca/app/555011... As stated these dryers are sold under a number of name plates and model/feature versions. Here reviewed.com is underwhelmed by what they experienced using this dryer design: "The Whirlpool WED4915EW is better than 6% of the dryers we tested. ...an exceptionally affordable dryer with familiar features. It's a nostalgia trip, an anachronism. The reality isn't as kind as your memory, though: In our tests, most cycles got too hot, failed to remove enough moisture, or both. Consumers looking for their mother's (or grandmother's) dryer will find it in this Whirlpool." laundry.reviewed.com/content/whir... Here it is new as an Amana at Bestbuy Canada for $349 www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/aman... . CLICK HERE TO GO TO stricklybojack's LINK on Montreal Craigslist |

I was using craigslist because i thought you had a very limited budget, and i also thought Canada had crazy high prices on appliances after i heard what you paid for your SQ TL. Looking into it i see there are some deals to be had. Best Buy Canada or Sears Canada both have fast free shipping to Montreal. Here are their dryer offerings linked below, BB at bottom. 20 loads a week makes me wonder why you went with a top loading machine. Sounds like you have a family. Not many here seem to have families with kids at home btw. Turns out i do, and turns out last year we bought my mother a SQ FL set. That said, at your laundry volume one of the super-sized machines may be the ticket: LG, Kenmore, Samsung, Maytag/Whirlpool etc. Here is a selection of 8.8 c.u. ft machines at Sears liked by reviewed.com: www.sears.ca/catalog/appliances-w... 1) Here is the Cabrio (Henene4 posted) for sale at Best Buy: www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/whir... 2) Here is a step up from that in the Cabrio line (in size anyway), for less $$, at Sears: www.sears.ca/product/whirlpool-88... 3) And here i think is the value champ. This looks to be the same Cabrio as the first, branded as a Kenmore, hugely discounted at Sears for $519 (sale price lasts until May 18th): www.sears.ca/product/kenmore-md-7... pics are in order 1-3 |

The reason I supposed that model was the lower reached temperature while still having the top-mounted lint filter design. The same drying engine with better control. There's a simmilar model without steam, but can't find it for Canada. I don't think your usage situation requires steam. |

I would suggest weighing the on-line reviews carefully if they're being provided predominantly by non-professionals and/or owners of the subject dryers who never bothered to read the instructions. It is those types who skew the numbers toward predominantly negative reviews.
Many of us here have read a fair number of negative reviews on front-load washers made by people who don't have the slightest concept of proper use and care and complain about things like mildew and musty smells, clothes not getting clean and socks getting sucked into the pump, yet virtually none of us have those same complaints and are happy with our machines because we know how to use them.
I am confident the same is true for reviews on misused dryers, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners or any other household item that requires a certain amount of maintenance for proper performance, and common sense with regard to expectations of their capabilities.
As for so-called professional reviews, such as Consumer Reports, they are worth about as much as the paper they're printed on. |

The reviews text is indeed mostly useless. However, for example a reason why I like reviewed.com, if you just take the real and not somehow factored numbers out of the tests, you can pretty well compare them. I mean, at least they are all mostly consitent on their testing procedures. |

Then you have been very very lucky because they are trouble prone from the "premier" gas dryers they used to make back in the '60's down to the new ones they make now. |
