I am currently using a low end 2007 or so Whirlpool dryer (one with the lint filter on the top, right part of the cabinet). It's hard to gauge these things--it's been a long time before this one that I had a WP dryer, but...I have a sense that it might run cooler and take longer to dry than older WP dryers (going back as far as the 1960s) I've used. I have been wondering if temperatures got dialed down at some point as part of an energy savings move. (Note: as far as I can tell, there are no issues like lint built up. I checked a while back.)
