I don't know how many people here remember yellow Christmas Tree light bulbs, but they were a thing for a while. I remember an ad for tree lights that showed the difference between a tree with yellow bulbs and one without them. I thought that they had completely disappeared, but this place has them as well as other interesting bulbs for many applications like small fluorescent tubes for control panels. Anyway, I thought I would make the resource available.

Thanks, Tom, I'm getting low on yellow bulbs.

I should have been clearer about the ad for yellow bulbs on Christmas trees. The ad showed a tree with all colors of lights and showed it with and without yellow to show how much more vibrant the tree looked with a few yellow bulbs scattered in amongst the other colors.

I understood, anyway. And couldn't agree more.

By the same token, too many blue bulbs make a tree sort of cold, imho -- of course, there are people who like all blue lights, but they (the bulbs) are depressing to me.

I once had a hotel room in South Beach that was decorated with a blue neon tube running around the room where the crown molding usually is. It made me wonder how many people had committed suicide there. I finally unplugged it.

Again with the Yellow Bulbs!

This afternoon Turner Classic Movies showed Desk Set with Tracy and Hepburn. A good part of the movie features the office at Christmas. Today, I was able to study the office Christmas tree on the larger screen of my flat TV and I discovered the reason that the tree has such a strong appearance is that most of the lights on the tree are yellow. I have posted about the brilliance of the yellow bulbs. There must be something about the way yellow shows up so well under the bright lights of a movie set. The movie was released in 1957 so the yellow bulbs were available them. It's nice to have this mystery solved after seeing the movie for so many years on TV screens where details are lost.
