Whaddayawanna bet that space had been previously occupied by a Petal Pink GE Combo? There were so many of them in NYC that failed early after their expensive installation that I remember many of them sitting there in friends parents' kitchens, broken and taking up space because owners didn't want to spend the money on parts, plumbing, cabinet work and labor to replace them. I think the Westy's were a welcome 50% solution for some people when they came along. This one was given a very nice paint job. |

Still often enough at the curbside here in Manhattan, NYC at least.
Our late paternal grandmother had a set, and far as one knows they are still in her old house, though in what condition cannot say. Think the Westinghouse spacemate sets filled a popular niche until Miele and other European "compact" washers and dryers came along. |
