I have a 14 year old Kenmore TL washer and when I use it you get a faint smell of hot grease. I figure it's time for a replacement before it dies on me. I am not a fan of the new HE washers and prefer a traditional washer with out all the bells and whistles. I am leaning toward a Speed Queen TL washer but wanted some opinions if you guys still think its one of the best machines out there. Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.

It's the closest you'll get to behaving like your Kenmore and it will use just as much water. It might even give you true hot instead of dumbed down hot.
Pay extra for a model that provides a second rinse option. You'll probably want to keep that switch flipped to the "On" position as long as you own the machine. That's what we did when we had an Amana brand* Speed Queen clone.
*Amanas are no longer made by Speed Queen. |

Thank you for your input, you read so much today about problems people have with new washing machines that my biggest concern is reliability. Whither TL or FL I just want a machine that will give me years of service with out any problems. My current TL is a Kenmore which was made by Whirlpool and never had a service call on it in 14 years but when you read customers reviews on the new Whirlpool's, Maytage's and GE washers, and all the problems it makes you wonder about the reliability of the newer machines. From what I have read on this web site Speed Queens seem to be the most reliable or that is the impression I get. Thanks again for your comments.

A load of whites (towels mixed with socks and underwear) can get cleaned as long as you don't overload it. |
