That's nice! If I were closer, I would probably get that. I have a love for electric skillets.

I see reference on the box to the new Teflon surface. Was 1970 around the time Teflon started to be used on cookware?

Yes,

1968 to 1970. Teflon was all the rage. The came Teflon II, then Silverstone also by DuPont, and the French competitor T Fal.
Now they are like all ptfe cookware coatings considered a health risk.
Ceramics are replacing them.

Teflon

Came out in the early 60s in the US. the process was no where near as good as the French made TFal. it took several years to perfect it.

That's a very nice skillet, I have a gold one under the Sears Counter-Craft rebadge

Presto! Here's another one!

And it's not on CL or ebay -- it's taking up space in the basement!

This was my mom's.  You can't beat the Partridge Family motif for a look that screams '70s, or carnivore, depending on your perspective.

The so-called "Hard Surface" shows some wear, but I suppose it performs fine.  Regardless, I doubt I'll ever use this thing, and it's waiting for a skilletless visitor to express interest.   I already have a Faberware Fry Pan and Buffet Server that rarely get used.

I've often wondered about taking a pan with worn Teflon and sandblasting it to remove the Teflon. You'd then have an aluminum cooking surface. Anyone here ever try this?
