Is that time of the year again (already)!
I thought I'd start the thread for IFA 2016, though I'm yet to see anything new so far,
lets add to the thread with new appliances, and innovations!!

There's a thread in the German forum. AEG will have SoftWater washing machines with water softener. Cooktops from AEG and BSH with a built-in downdraft. Miele will bring out a W1 washer/dryer and the bagless Blizzard vacuum (see my post in the Super forum). Whirlpool won't be at the IFA this year.

Miele WT1

From what I've read Miele are looking to produce 2 new washer dryers - based on the W1 line.
One (known as the XXL) has a 8Kg wash, 5KG dry, the other 7Kg wash, 4KG dry.
As well as all the normal programmes, and powerwash 2.0, twin dos, and cap dosing, they benefit from a 3hr Powerwash & dry programme for 4KG (and 5KG in just 30minutes longer).

One can also notice the sensor is smaller, giving increased visibility inside

AEG's get design upgrade

The new look combines Electrolux USA washing machines (launched earlier in the year), with the smart design expected from AEG.

Combined with OKOMix - essentially a power foam, and on the TOL models - built in water softener.

For me, the design of the machines is perfect, and one I'd happily choose over my hotpoint any day!

Bosch "Avantgarde"

While we all know about Siemens Avantgarde, which debuted at last year's ifa (and officially rolled out begining of this year), Bosch never launched an equivalent.
That is until these new machines, launched recently at Bosch China.

Though no press release has been released from Bosch, My guess is these machines could feature at IFA and bosch are keeping them under close wraps until nearer the time, but time will tell.

I certainly do hope they launch these as that dial, combined with innovative display, really looks good, and the door - impressive (I'm a fan of modern appliances like this!!)

Thanks Logixx for your input, I'm very sad to hear Whirlpool/Bauknecht/Hotpoint wont be featuring this year. I was hoping we'd see some innovations from them in regards to Hotpoint "Dialogioc" and Whirlpools "smart Home".

Is it possible for you to provide a link to the German Forum, for those interested (remembering its not English!!).

Will Haier & Panasonic be at IFA 2016?

I'm sure nearer the time, more press releases will be made and we'll see some even better innovations.

Whirlpool said they would alternate between IFA and EuroCucina - this year it was EuroCucina they went to. Panasonic and Gorenje will be there as well. So far, Panasonic will have fridge/freezers with colored LEDs inside to preserve vegetables better and Gorenje has new dishwashers.

Wonder if the water softner technology of the AEG works with salt, filters or somehow without any maintanace products. In any case, it is verry verry interesting to me with our hard water. And the press release makes it sounds as if they redesigned their steam cycles.

These Gorenje DW look gorgeus.

The Miele WD combo will be interesting as well, especialy usage data and the drying technology.

Does anyone know the whole DW story with the AutoOpen copy systems? I mean, Miele had that years ago, but only now manufacturers start to use it...

Miele washer dryer combos

Manuals avaible at least here in Germany. Models are WTF 120/130 for 7kg models, WTH 120/130 for the 7kg models with TwinDos, WTZH130 for a 8kg TwinDos model and WTZH 730 for the TOL 8kg TwinDos WiFi one, all are WPM equipped like the previous combos.

(Note: These are all I found via trial and error search on the WT model numbers according to their naming scheme.)

New AEG nameing scheme

Did some trial and error search on the german AEG site, and found 2 renamed ÖkoKombi washer-dryers (L9WS99ÖKO and L9WE95ÖKO) and apparently the new naming system for the FLs at least:

L (short for Lavamat)
x (number for series)
F (front load)

followed by a model number made up of numbers and letters as known, however starting with a letter (E and C seem the most common).

The most I could figure out from the one short manual that is up by now is that they now do some kind of dry load sensing simmilar to what we know from LG and companions (at least on the 8000 series and higher) and they now have an ÖkoPower cycle which sounds simmilar to PowerWash and such.

The washer dryers look well nice! I prefer them to the washers! One thing I dislike about my W1 and the washer dryers is the depth of the machines are slowly increasing, not just Mieles but most now. Still, Id have one any day! Will be interesting to see how they compared to their pre-decessors too, Ive used a few and I wasnt too impressed with them!

AEG's

It seems that there's now some Youtube videos from a shop showing the new AEG's.

Also announced is that Candy / Hoover will be at the IFA this year. Candy will emphasise on connected appliances and its traditional Italian values/heritage. Hoover will showcase robot vacuum cleaners.
I wonder if they'll showcase Hoovers British heritage?? Probably not though.

Even though I'm not a fan of bagless vacuums, it looks awesome.

AEG launched a new website design as well; some of their 7 and 8 series washers and dryers are up already, the series 9 ones aren't. However, a short instruction manual is avaible which shows the salt tank for the water softner to be integrated into the detergent drawer, which as a result only has a main wash and a softner compartment. Prewash will still be avaible via an option button though.

Now I want an Avantgarde!

It features the same avantgarde display, but has Home connect technology, which allows you to choose from 4 ASR stains on each programme, and also has a further programmes selection (which presumably allows for programmes to be chosen from the app).

Dryer features connectivity too :)

Aren't that new really. My 12kg machine has Aquawave drum , Proinverter motor and a steam function and I bought it 9 months ago. Some of the features on the 8kg machine have been around on that range of Beko's for a while to. Hygiene 20 is relatively new.

Curious About the Candy

haxisfan's profile picture
Chestermikeuk what is Innovation 70... I mean why 70? There's not much info about that Candy... I only found an article so far which is all in Italian (link below).

I guess all companies splash out with innovation on these kinds of exhibitions but really and truly all the technology mentioned there was already available in Candy group machines before this very model... the load recognition especially was already part of every single machine of theirs since the beginning of the millennium even in most of their BOL range. They should mention that their machines have water pressure recognition as well as almost every other non-Hoover/Candy machine I've tried in a low water pressure environment has been going into panic mode... well... maybe they'll say that at the next IFA ;)

Exactly Haxisfan, "Candy have been producing washing machines for 70 years all with innovation at the heart", was from a Press Release....

What do you think of TED ? I would like it more if it was a sensor inside the washer instead of a hand scanner...

TED thoughts

haxisfan's profile picture
That's right Mike... I was a little disappointed to hear that TED is a separate device... I guess it would still come handy if someone was in doubt as to what kind of fabric makes up their garments (ie if the wash label has come off or it's unreadable). That's said, I'm overall satisfied enough with the way how Hoovers in general treat different loads according to their size and absorbency: I guess all these innovations we're seen nowadays are mostly gimmicks. I do like the display and interface they're using on these machines though.

Miele patent policy

I think Miele chanhed their way of handling patents over the past couple of years.

I mean, they lost the patents on cutlery trays, they lost the Auto Open patent and now they even lost the glass care water bypass patent as it seems.
Weren't they once verry entitled on keeping those patents?

Do you mean BSH's raw water valve? They had a 2nd valve on their previous generation of dishwashers - before the ActiveWater ones we have now. So they just brought that feature back.
