Too bad there was not an interior shot...this is a first, i never saw a White Westy TL commercial washer before. It's hard to put WCI and commercial laundry in the same sentence. LOL. |

Very early 80's. The University of Rochester (NY) installed these machines throught the dorms brand new in 1981. The school thought they were getting the cat's meow because the distributor at the time showed them the energy saving stats for the front loaders, then installed top loaders. The Directory of Services was a bit P.O.'d when I pointed out to him that he'd been scammed. There was a big laundry in the penthouse of my dorm (16 matching washers and dryers), and they overlooked the small 6 machine laundry in the basement than had a rather ancient collection of Westinghouse machine. These older ones agitated much more vigorously and spun out much faster than the newer machines. No one understood why I preferred to do my washing in the dark basement... |
