Earlier this week, I took delivery of an Elux 617 pair.
All in, I got out the door with the set on pedestals with a 5 year warrantee for under 2K. I have only run two loads through so far. But here are some preliminary observations... 1. Spins after wash bath, rinses, then final spin. 2. Doesn't fart around with stepped spinning. Final spin is 0 to 60 in mere seconds. 3. Whites cycle + Stain Soak = ~80 minutes of heated wash bath. 4. Last rinse fills to wash level with FS, after a minute of tumbling, water ups to about an inch on the glass. 5. Dryer Normal cycle defaults to include ECO option. Load of jeans took 42 min. Front of dryer never got warm to the touch. 6. Washer has wrinkle release. After final spin, load tumbles for 10 minutes to fluff up load. No more shaking out clothing before it goes in the dryer. Will post more observations as they come into light... Malcolm |

So, one question because I'm not sure if I got you right there: It only spins after the main wash and after all rinses are done, right? And how many rinses does the Normal cycle default to? |

The Normal cycle only spins after the wash and then after all rinses.
However, setting the soil level to Max changes a lot more than just wash time. Rinses are doubled in time, spins between rinses, and I have to pay closer attention, but I believe it adds a rinse. Normal cycle defaults to two rinses. Colors cycle spins after first rinse, then only at final spin. Rinse water up on glass only occurs on whitest whites. I haven't run the heavy duty cycle yet. Recirculating spray can really froth up the wash water at the beginning as the pump may suck air before additional water is added. I'm still trying to pinpoint what each progress dot means under the countdown timer. I also need to reverse the doors on both machines. Malcolm |

on whitest whites? I'll bet this happens on heavy duty too - could be wrong, but I get that vibe.
Anyway, it's funny how things are changing. My ancient duet uses the same level for everything (which isn't to skimpy with water) but it doesn't come up to the glass - EVER. Mostly making modifications only creates longer times/heater being active, etc, not water levels. From what I can always tell, the washes and rinses are the same levels, unless it's delicate or soak, which basically do nothing major, so I never use them unless I need to soak something. But the drum is so tilted in my Duet - When I use the clean washer cycle, it has to feel with A LOT of water before even thinking about touching the glass. I'm thinking if it were a non-tilted drum, it potentially could be touching the glass, or at least the boot, I dunno. Is the drum tilted in these? |

Rinse water up the glass on Whitest Whites: Does the manual suggest using liquid chlorine bleach in that cycle? The manual for my 2010 Frigidaire did. Perhaps the extra water in the final rinse is to help remove chlorine bleach.
I'll have to download the manual for your 617 and compare it to the Frigidaire I used to have. The Stain option you mentioned is definitely different. I really like the 'Nest-like' look of the control dial. What do you think of it? Hurry up and dirty a lot of clothes/bedding/towels so we can get more insights into the new Elux, LOL! Good Morning Malcom,
Does this washer have a recirculating spray like the LG? Or is the water/detergent spray only at the beginning of the wash? Please advise. I am in the market for a new washer and I really like the turbo wash feature of the LG. If this washer does the same, I would go for it. Thank you, Richard |

Ive been toying with getting the 617s. I love the way they look. I cant believe no one else has a reverse door besides electrolux.
Anyways, from what I am understanding, the 617 has a pre-mix / powerfoam type thing, correct? Does the dryer still reverse tumble? You'd think as a sales person that carries this brand, i'd already know the answer but... Trying to get info from the reps is like pulling teeth. |

1. Not sure if the manual suggests bleach for WW, I don't really use bleach for anything other than kitchen towels. 2. The detergent is washed from the dispenser to a chamber underneath the tub. It is mixed for a bit and then pumped up and over the wash load. The pump runs most of the time, including the rinses. I imagine the softener being blended with water before coming into contact with the laundry will eliminate FS staining in cold rinse water. 3. The dryer does not reverse tumble. Haven't found any need for it, so far. They really are smart machines. I especially like the delayed start on both the washer and dryer. I'm still trying out different cycles and options. Also, I haven't reversed the doors yet either. I'll snap a couple pictures tonight. Malcolm |

I use the Colors cycle instead of Casuals. So the temp is not limited. It is difficult to tell how the temp mixing works as the water doesn't flow into the drum directly. It does appear changing the soil level to Max alters more than just the wash time. The longest wash cycle is listed at 199 minutes. Although, that is the hinges number the machine can display. Hi Malcolm.
I have the 70 series washer and dryer that have just past their one year old mark. Over 250 washes (tracked by suggested clean cycle every 50 washes). I've read that the Pre-wash doesn't drain and spin before going into the main wash program, is that true? Does it just go into the main wash without draining and spinning (like the 60/70 does)? I also don't like how it doesn't tell you what part of the cycle it's on. Like it doesn't say it's Pre-washing, Rinsing, Washing, Draining, Spinning, Adding Steam...etc (like the 60/70 does). So you don't know where in the cycle it is. Along with what you like...what don't you like? I know the cycle times are way longer. I really love my Electrolux 70 series washer and dryer. Would love to see videos of your 6xx. All the best with the Elux's. |

Malcolm,
How are you liking your new Electrolux set? I am sure that you have studied every cycle and know it manners down to the second by now.
Such a great looking pair.

Sounds like my LG set. None of the cycles are set in stone either. Even the tumble and spins are very different considering the load weight.
Makes it much more interesting.
