That's a KDS-18 and the compactor is also a Kitchen Aid.

KCS 100C. Happy to say I own both that DW and Compactor--but they're were not free. Somebody go get 'em!!! The compactor is BRILLIANT compared to what else was on the market at the time…or now. Same with the DW :D

Me!

I blame Funkional for leading me down this path of debauchery and inhaling these vintage appliances.
I also blame Bosch for quoting me $130 base and $120/hr to check out our (then) on the fritz 2 yr old DW. I fixed the drain clog myself with a youtube tutorial and various websites including this one for diagnoses.
One note, the KA compactor is nutso heavy, i needed a hand to load these in the oh so useful Saturn LW300 (Saab v6 equipped).
I unloaded solo, sacraficing a box rather than my back.

You just got two awesome machines. The best Hobart ever built for the KitchenAid line.

Brilliant save. Yes…compactor easily hits 150-160lbs…shoulda mentioned that. Back killer supreme. You just got yourself about 500 bucks worth of happy for FREE :D If you ever find you should need a door trim kit for the compactor, get hold of me….I know of another one (unless it sold already), and I might be able to scrounge that for you. It's just aluminum trim for top and bottom/sides of doors as shown in the pic of mine below:

How much use has the KDS18 Had?

funktionalart's profile picture
The door gasket looks factory fresh, and so does the rest of the interior….wonder if this has really been run that much? Almost like someone had it for show-off purposes and really did all wash by hand. You could be in for 35-40 years of trouble free use…

It looks to have had very little use. Came from a small duplex house. Not a hint of rust anywhere I looked.
