Hi all, I have a whirlpool Ultimate Care II.
I would like to put in a surgilator or whatever agitator without the dual action spiral....as I do not really like it....
It washes well but the spiral is too bulky and it is a pita to unload, large items wraps around it and often tangles the sheets...without mentioning dogs worn out again.
What could be compatible with it's original agitator?

Try a dual action agitator from a Kenmore dd washer. The spiral is not as tall and the spiral is more downward pronounced for great rollover.

I was going to suggest a Kenmore version as well...

something like this.....

they are available with shorter spirals, some have just a cap on top, others have a softener either built in or added on top.....

but if anything, the spirals are angled downward which is a great improvement over the first design......this is actually called a 'PLUS' agitator.....

there is also a 'TRIPLE' which has a spring action that allows the spiral to jump up and down......just a gimmick actually....

there are several straight vanes ones as well...

but any load over Medium, rollover will suffer....and something like a blanket will not turn over.....

all I can say is try it for yourself.....

my preference has always been the larger base version from the Kitchen Aid lineup.....recommended for Medium or Low speed agitation, but I use it on High speed all the time...

if you want serious scrubbing and rollover, this is the one.....

Thanks martin and john ...
So are they all compatible? Like are there any differences in size or they all will fit as long as we talk of WP made DD machines?
I was thinking something like these.
You know...just to change.
Dogs worn out again, already ordered the new cam and dogs
The vanes of the KA version seem taller....
I think I might like it.
Do you have a part # for it?
Thanks

that second pic, for some odd reason, was the best for these machines to turn over loads, especially as a straight vane.....

this link would be for the whole assembly of the larger base agitator.....a model number is included to search part numbers as well.....

Thank you Martin.
I think I am gonna get exactly this KA one you posted....the whole thing.
I have contacted the seller asking if it include the cam kit or not, and they say it doesn't.
Do you know if it goes with the tall or th e short cam?
My original one had a short cam and for some reasons they seem more expensive than the taller ones and the ones going in triple action agi's with the spring for the up and down you mentioned.

Yeah as for straight vanes I liked the second one more...though no good prices on ebay for those.
I have though found a black straight vane like those you find in commercial/coin WP DD.....price was fair...

P.S
do you think I'm going to need another bolt? I mean a different one?
Or the one I have will do?

I took mine apart, and it has a short cam.....

not only that, but also missing would be the plastic sleeve that goes on the base, and the cover for the dogs so the softener doesn't spill down the center....but you may have these from yours already...

the bolt should be universal to be used on either one.....

check this other link out, its not free shipping, but total cost may be the same.....and this one may be complete.....just a thought....

odd how they have so many tops and bottoms, where you to have to make sure they both match....not all are interchangeable....some are a bit tricky...
