I need a model number (or top and lid part numbers) of any 27" Whirlpool or Maytag direct-drive washer toward the end of production, on which the console mounts with screws at the back corners, for which a replacement top and lid are available. Preferably with a bleach dispenser funnel at the right front. |

GSQ9669LW1. Wide lid. I picked up the machine (and matching dryer) 4 years ago from a college student moving out. Has been in my garage for the duration. The top (which is not porcelain) is rusted badly around the cut-out for the bleach dispenser. I'd replace the top but it's NLA. I figure another 27" direct-drive top would retrofit but I'm not not finding anything available to support mounting the console with rear-corner screws. I took the cabinet, top, and lid by a local auto-body shop for a quote. $786, so no. The cabinet and lid have a few rust spots but aren't as bad as the top so I could clean and spray-can them, although my painting skills are amateur. Apparently the only recourse is try to do the top as well. I haven't checked back with the shop for a quote on just the top but I imagine it'd be prohibitive. |
