Does anyone know why the new Hotpoints are DOE? Is this because it has a spray rinse, infamous low level rinse or because its load sensing? This is Hydro-wave I take it? Looks like one of the last real top loads besides Speed Queen left.

That is indeed a Hydrowave...the GE's are no longer available. They have new Hotpoints like the new GE's so I imagine these will go eventually. But if you remember back in the day...the Hotpoint "RimFlo" washers lasted a couple years after the FilterFlo's were gone.

Rim-flo effect

Ahhh yes, I see that here. If this machine still has a pressure switch, one with some tinker can make this a normal topload ;)

I read it as 3.6 cu ft by DOE measure, as opposed to IEC measure.

The current GEs seem to have a generous water level, especially with the flexible Deep Fill option

This seems a rather screwball operating machine to me. The load is not a very big one and it certainly doesn't fill to the top of the tub either. Besides that, it's noisy!

Actually it does fill very high. It's hard to tell on the video but it doesn't fill completely to the top, but very close. My new Maytag does the same. My 29 year old Filter Flo didn't fill to the top either, I had to adjust it to do that.

Those GE's sound similar to the WP VMW machines. The video makes them sound louder than they are honestly.
