So this dryer, a "kenmore model 110 #96210100" already has a broken timer. The dial travels but rarely reaches the end, and doesn't shut the machine off.
But as of recently, it has started turning off some time within ten minutes of starting. Sometimes longer. The air gets hot. But not too hot. The exhaust channel is clear, and the flow is good. The dial panel is (now) lint less, no blackened shorting. Also, the primary electrical cord is not hot, and obviously no breakers ever trip. Also also, door switch clicks positively.
My current theory is that the heavy water laden clothes and towels fall on the drum in such a way as to give the motor pause, and there is a safety switch that prevents overload if the motor is manually 'stalled' like this? I don't want to grab the drum to test this lest I do actual damage if I'm wrong. I hear that when the thermal sensor/regulator dies, it won't start up again? Sometimes it takes a few minutes to start back up again via button. Sometimes it is basically instant. Sometimes I've unplugged for a few minutes or just let sit for a few, maybe ten minutes of more.
As of now, it's been running uninterrupted for 2o minutes, but this is after 3 restarts of varying lengths. Has been happening for a few weeks, maybe 5 runs. (Don't judge)
Am I just tripping up the motor and need to change loading habits? Or is something more serious afoot?
