Meant to post this at the time but it slipped my mind.
Gracious Home, the upscale retailer here in Manhattan, NYC is having a "clearance" sale. Published reason is that the store is "restructuring" but many of us having seen this play before aren't buying that ending. Anyway the place sells Persil, Miele, and other European laundry/home cleaning products among other things. They also sell Miele appliances but do not know if those are included in the sale, but anyone interested could contact and ask. IIRC Miele does not allow "sales" of their appliances, but then again could be wrong. Haven't bothered with the sale since have Miele and other laundry products (European and American) coming out of my ears! *LOL* The stuff is stashed in places all over. www.dnainfo.com/new-york/... nypost.com/2016/11/22/gracious-ho... |

Place is mostly cleaned out.
To my surprise Miele appliances *were* on sale/markdown, but they were all gone. There was one of the new steam ironers on the sales floor with a big "SOLD" sign but the washers, dryers, and other laundry appliances were long sold out. Plenty of vacuum cleaner bags (Miele, Panasonic,) and other cleaning odds and ends. All of the cleaning supplies including detergents and other laundry stuff was long gone. Picked up some odds and ends; a galvanized tub for about $10.00, several bottles of Linit liquid starch for $3/ea. Have been wanting a second tub since got the Maytag wringer, and who doesn't like starch? May go back later in week if have time to pick over the remains. |

According to local NYC news reports. Had to go over to the UWS today and would be in the general area so thought would perhaps stop by; but given the rapidly dropping temps didn't bother after all.
Have tons of Persil and other European detergents that purchased at prices well below what GH was selling. IIRC such laundry/cleaning products were the first to sell out but the discount was only about 10% to maybe 20% that early in sale. Once you add back the 8.25% sales tax the difference wasn't that great. |
