Worst water extraction ability I ever saw on a front-load machine. Worse than an old Bendix "diving bell". No wonder they sold so few. |

Still guess it beat doing laundry by hand or standing around a wringer washer all day.
For the record best wringer washers extracted about equal to 200rpms give or take. Contrary to popular belief you can only screw wringers down but so tightly before having problems. Maytag conventional washers with self regulating tension supposedly left things quite dry. |

This machine has been safely picked up and is waiting for us to go to Ohio and pick it up.
This was the frist model WH built, it is a WD-1, probably 1955 0r 56, it is the same model that already resides in the Museum here in Beltsville. These were originally only built in condenser electric models, later they built vented models as well. My Brother Jeff has a vented WHC from about 57 or 58 that Robert rescued in Minneapolis that is awaiting restoration.
At this point there are three know WHCs, hopefully more cool rare machines will show up in the years ahead. |
