all the ovens or stove since we been in this house... All P7 series....LOL
this unit was advertised as "stainless top" Or I assumed it was stainless steel by looking a pics..
I should have known better since been reading about Flairs etc
Unfortunately another black glass door>>>
finally got hold of the owner he finally gave me his phone number... Cause I hate emailing about an item
Well haste again. I should have pulled out my magnet.
But at least is excellent condition for its age....
Also should have offered him less since its an older slide in unit... But I should have did that before driving the 80 plus miles... Went there got it and drove right back....spent $150
Now they didnt have their countertop behind it. Just a tile backsplash
Defintely keeping the oven we took put of here and storing in our toolshed.. Since it has same knobs etc but a narrower unit since it was a built in oven...model
Just be nice to find a white glass door or white glass insert
Heres pic of it before we got it....from original owner
what yall think
now to find a backsplash and vent hood. a used real good one,too they also didnt give us a bacslash trim piee just the side chrome trim pieces
what yall think ? thanks

80s GE Slide-In P-7 Range

These were very good ranges and yours looks to be in great shape.

Few if any US appliance manufactures used real non-magnetic SS in this time period, interestingly most SS appliances have gone back to cheaper to make magnetic SS for current appliances. Brushed Chrome holds very well if cared for properly and has a nicer warmer golden color to it compared to most SS.

The range looks great in Black & Chrome, but if you want white you want white, the big problem with white appliances the last 30 years or so is they tend to age badly as the white parts discolor.

thanks I knew it was good being

a p7. But the cheapos at GE used plastic chrome look knobs and handle bracket. which somehow got broken between loading and bring it in
Just found a pc. of it on the floor this morning....
also would like to have the back trim pc. since I dont have a counter behind it....
I am going to try to find the white glass from maybe a used appl store not far from here....
Plus we plan on selling house hopefully in the spring..... black shows so much like fingerprint. Wish I had listned to my inner voice and put in a white kitchen floor like I had in my previous home of many years.
thanks

That range would be the perfect replacement for my 1984 Hotpoint slide in with continuous clean oven.  Drool.

yeah appnut

what wrong with your Hotpoint? I guess the owners replaced the original bowls with steel. Seems like the owners manual listed "aluminum drip pans".... and the knobs so cheap and the handle side for the wrap around part is cracked plastic chrome....
If jenn air didnt have the "exhaust part" on burner top I would have went for it...
Got to remember to check out the one we put in the shed last week to see if that oven thermostat knob is "loose" too The clock was keeping time but lately been off. Hubby may oil it....
The guy said the clock works... LOL but silly me forgot to ask if it kept ACCURATE time....HA ha
I should have taken pics of the first two units...I keep making mistakes.... I know I am whining...
thank yall for listening
I see a lot of units on C list... and a like new slide in at Habitat for $20 over a yr. ago.... Dang me passed it up
cause we were in a hurry worrying about my "pets"...
I have mentioned it quite a bit Hubby tired of hearing
Take care all

Are we supposed to be supporting you or feeling sorry for you?  You're making these choices, we aren't.  Buying a stove USED is "AS IS."  An owner may say everything works, but isn't always right.  To often the "man" of the house is dealing with the sale while the wife--who knows FAR more about the actual state of the stove can't say a word.  If you can't see the stove hooked up, making sure all works, it's the sellers word!  You seem in such a hurry!  Do you even KNOW what you really want?  I don't think so, so have been disappointed time and again.  If you think you can find "the stove of your dreams" for $20.00, drea on!  We're not here to find that stove for you!

It's just that it has only one 8" burner and the dreaded continuous clean oven.  I'd love two 8" burners and self cleaning oven in this exact styles as is what my current stove is like otherwise.

I am not asking for sympathy but you dont mince words

Im just telling about it... was in a hurry cause it was over a 2 hr trip.....
and darkness was nigh.... its hard to see driving at night too. Hubby was concerned about deer running in front of us etc.
But so many people have reg jobs and not home during daylight hours.
Plus I really did see a fabulous stove for $20 plus at Restore. just wish I would have bought it. it could have went into the garage..also I should have taken a pic of it. Since I carry a camera or two with me...
yeah I know what I wanted but hard to find or too far away or was gone when I got hold of the seller.
Lots of time weather was really bad too.. So many CL sellers only list emails not a pysical phone number...
Reason had sev. diff stove units is
!. cause the one was here when moved in.... The second was in our garage stored at other home and it served its purpose HERE till got this unit...
Plus buying and using appliances is not like buying a pair of curtains.... You cant just try it out and if not liking that USED appliance just return it.....LOL
But whatever it works so far.. just walked into kitchen clock is keeping time again....LOL
I prob never owned a brand new perfect condition NEW stove....
which is fine with me Only 6 refrigertors and 4 dishwashers, 4 washers and the 2 dryers in my many years
thank all for your thoughts and patience...
