Sears Ultra Plus Detergents are being discontinued! Was told the vendor for the detergent will not be making it for them anymore.
I grabbed the last 2 boxes(orange) they had and asked them to price match with Kmart $8.99ea
Get them while you can!

Sears Laundry Detergents

Were never very good and performed poorly unless you had really soft water.

Maybe they have something better planned? I bought one box several years ago, hated it, managed to use about half of it. Didn't clean well at all, and left the clothes extremely hard and rough. Gave the rest to friends of mine and they left it when they moved out of their house... And they normally use anything that says "laundry detergent" on it. Must have been bad!

@ Dustin

Same here. Never cared for it. I know some members here love it. I really disliked the way my clothes felt after using that detergent.

Tried using on my Car Towels and even those felt hard and scratchy. And they were rinsed well too.

How many times have we heard of the imminent demise of Sears Ultra Plus? This is surely not the first. So I'm a bit skeptical.

Be that as it may, I stocked up on it two years back and have enough to last quite a while. I haven't had the same cleaning/rough issues as others here are talking about. I also boost it about 30% by weight with STPP, and it cleans extremely well. The best SUP formulation, IMHO, is the stuff in the blue box or pail with Oxyclean added. It seems to leave a softer finish than the regular, and also seems to work pretty good without STPP.

Your mileage may vary. The water here is not ultra soft, but I would term it "medium low" at about 5 grains. For the softest results I generally turn to one of the liquid laundry detergents. Lately I've also been using distilled vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser and that helps too, at least in the Neptune FL. In the Miele, the SUP powder works fine without needing any FS.

I'm just wondering

Is ultra-plus being discontinued, because Sear's is being discontinued?  Maybe their supplier isn't getting paid.

To the best of my knowledge, the manufacturer is still Desoto Chemical Co. of Joliet, IL. You may want to call them to find out what is up. Their # is (815)727-4931.
