How many times have we heard of the imminent demise of Sears Ultra Plus? This is surely not the first. So I'm a bit skeptical.
Be that as it may, I stocked up on it two years back and have enough to last quite a while. I haven't had the same cleaning/rough issues as others here are talking about. I also boost it about 30% by weight with STPP, and it cleans extremely well. The best SUP formulation, IMHO, is the stuff in the blue box or pail with Oxyclean added. It seems to leave a softer finish than the regular, and also seems to work pretty good without STPP. Your mileage may vary. The water here is not ultra soft, but I would term it "medium low" at about 5 grains. For the softest results I generally turn to one of the liquid laundry detergents. Lately I've also been using distilled vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser and that helps too, at least in the Neptune FL. In the Miele, the SUP powder works fine without needing any FS. |
