Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a Frigidaire 1-18 washing machine. I am a huge fan of the colors avocado green and harvest gold. I preferably want a crown series Frigidaire because of the window in the lid. I was looking at a washer on Appliances Unlimited, but I sent a few messages and never had them returned. I really like the Frigidaire on the site. My other favorite Frigidaire is the WC-6. I also usually buy my appliances in working condition so I don't have to put a lot of money into them right away. I would like to everyone's thoughts about this.

P.s. White is also an acceptable color for me.

Look at post 68533. There appears to be a few 1-18's there.

I still have a brown 1-18 in Pittsburgh, but it is not tested.

There is a pair of 1-18's on eBay in Virginia.

Good Luck!

Are you going to NC?

I was wondering if you are still planning on going to NC to see all of the things listed in #68533. Also could you send some pics of the machine you have in Pittsburg? Your 1977 Frigidaire Crown washer, the red one, is very nice. Those are the exact controls of my dream machine. You have a very nice collection based on the picture album. I enjoyed seeing the pics of every machine.

AVOCADO 1-18

I have an avocado 1-18 that I will give you. It is not a crown series but has been restored and works. I have one in harvest gold and don't need two. I live in Winston-Salem, NC

Avacado 1-18

Bob,
Is there any way that you could post a couple of pictures of your avacado 1-18 washer

if you find your Avocado 1:18 dream machine. I have the matching dryer, working and in near mint condition, in Avocado, that you may have for free. I have the matching Crown washer but it has a stuck clutch so I'm going to part it for spares for my Harvest Gold Crown washer, and I need to get my garage cleaned out. I'm in S Tier of NY so not all that far if you want it!

the Gold machine with the window in your picture is now in my basement, I got it from Appliance Unlimited - aka Hansen's - after their big auction, thanks to PhilR who was able to get to that auction when I was unable to! My only regret is not picking up the Poppy Red pair from Hansen's I was there the year before, but... I know they're in good hands, another guy here got them, so all in the family ;-)

Roger

Is the dryer gas or electric? Also is the avacado washer in the picture you posted the one that you are using for parts or is it available also? You only live 3.5 hours away from me so it would not be a bad trip. Congrats on the harvest gold washer from appliances unlimited!

The dryer is electric iirc, but I haven't been in the garage for awhile. Gas is kinda rare.

I want the washer for spares for my Harvest machine as parts for FDs are hard to find, but I need to verify what's interchangeable. The Gold one is a '76 and Avocado is last of the GM's, 1979.

Dryer

That is one of my biggest problems with dryers. I can only use gas dryers because our house is not equipped with 220 electric. Please leave me know if you come across any washers in our area.

Bob,

Could you please tell me if the washer has the perforated basket filter system or the bed of nails system. Also, I don't know how I could get to NC to get the machine.

Wow, free is a great price! Very nice of Bob.
It will ride just fine on it's side. Even a small SUV will do.

Avacado 1-18

Bob,

I would really like to get that Frigidaire, but I don't know how soon I could get to NC. I would also like to know which style of filter that it uses if it would not be too much trouble to find out. I will see what I can do. I will try to leave you know within the next two weeks.

Thank you very much for the generous offer. I will get back to you.

Frigidaire Unimatic and 1-18

Hi everyone,
I am still searching for a Frigidaire 1-18 washer close to me with the bed of nails filter. I would really like something that is pretty close to me. I really does not matter if it is crown series or not as long as it has normal and permanent press cycles.

I am also looking for a Frigidaire unimatic washer, but I don't know which is better a wo-65 or a white-57. These are my favorite two models. I really need the high speed spin because I line dry most of my laundry. Please leave me know if there are any unimatics in my area for sale.

Jesse D.

If you want to contact Appliances Unlimited you'll need to call the phone # listed on the website you showed and ask for Hans Hansen, they never return eMails or texts...
just FYI. They may still have some machines that did not sell at their auction 2 yrs ago.

If someone offered me a "dream" machine for free, I'd sure as heck find a way to get it. There are companies that ship things all over the country.

I am still going to see what happens between now and Easter. I cannot go on a trip right now because I have school and work. I would like to try to get the washer over Easter break if I can.

Bob

I sent you an email about the avacado washer. I will obviously not be able to come to NC to pick it up. I was wondering if you would have a problem with me have a company like Uship pick up the washer and deliver it to me. Please leave me know.

Thanks
Jesse
