My sister called me last week to report her 4 year old Kenmore Elite had spun it's last. It had been problematic since new, with the motor repeated coming loose and requiring larger screws and new holes etc. She complained it always made a loud clunk before going into the spin. This time, a support across the bottom broke and they decided to junk it.
They were shopping in a small rural town 45 miles from they live which is in the middle of no where.
They bought a Maytag set which she said had a stainless steel tub and was a metallic blue.
The set, with tax was 776.00. I was amazed it was so cheap. Is Maytag beginning to sell off old inventory?
I am anxious to see how she likes it after our family's good fortune with newer Maytags and hearing the rest of the world throwing fits.
