To end a great weekend of the vacuum cleaner collector's convention, four of us went over to Chris' house for a wonderful homemade dinner and an evening of relaxing fun. Chris and Dennis made a great dinner and wonderful cheesecake for dessert (it WAS excellent, Chris, no matter what you thought!) and then a little appliance play... Here is part of our group, outside on the patio.

After our delicious dinner and some appliance touring around the house, we loaded up the Westinghouse portable dishwasher circa 1954.

We washed in Chris' A3MP washer - what a beautiful machine and Chris has done a wonderful job restoring it.

Adding softener to the rinse cycle - this machine runs so quiet, the way an automatic washer should!

Sure looks like you all had a nice time. I'd love to get my hands on one of those dishwashers. They just don't seem to come up where I live here in Arkansas.

Thanks Greg for posting the great pictures, and a special thanks again to Chris for making them possible. Just looking at them brought a big smile to my face this morning as well. Terry

Great pictures, I think I'm always surprised the most seeing such early dishwashers still working because they're more rare than washers especially any pre 1970 and certainly from the 50's

What is the model name and/or no. of the Hoover in the middle? It is the same one my Grandma had.

That's A Hoover 28!

fnelson487's profile picture
The popular priced model which ran from right after the war in 1945 until 1950 when the beautiful model 29 was introduced. They made tons of them. Hooverland Jeff could tell you how many.
