Now that the frozen tundra of January is here...for those of us where it happens, nothing like the thoughts of a summer Wash-In to melt the snow, so here it goes:

Tentative weekend - June 16-18

Same format as always:

Friday evening Meet and Greet - Place TBD

Saturday Wash-In shenanigans, Saturday evening outing of some sort

Sunday morning 'Wash of Shame' and farewells

New attractions: Fully functioning 1960 W dryer and 1961 W Laundromat

Old attractions: Bring your machine to work on in the garage and/or hook up for show and tell, sitting on the infamous couch, food and booze on the deck.

Hotels: Use ZIP codes 15146(Monroeville) and 15238(Harmarville/Pittsburgh)for accommodations

Set your calendars now!

Jerry, We are thinking about coming. How far are you to Gettysburg? I would love to bring my 1964 Frigidaire along to fix, but I have no way to get it out there. And no parts either. Gary

BTW - It's not the finest home in Brentwood if the dryer doesn't play "How Dry I Am"

Salvage the good ones,

and the rest is a goldmine in scrap metal. Allegheny Ludlum buys it's scrap to make new steel from at least a couple local recyclers in that area no doubt.

Both an appliance graveyard and warehouse sound good to me.

Thank you for not picking the fourth weekend in June! Last year that weekend was a blur. Aside from it being Pride Weekend in NYC, there were about a half dozen meetings, symposiums, panels & who-knows-what at which I had to attempt play the role of 'trophy husband'. Since I don't look the part I had to make up for it with my feeble acting skills.....

I'll put in for the time this week.

Jim

Would SOOOO love to

be there - But It's the same weekend as Cbus Pride...

I'll be buzzing around in a Kilt on a Golf Cart in amongst about 500,000 queers...

Otherwise I'd be there in a heartbeat... Damn you Jerry for picking those dates!

I would have dragged along either the virgin unused Easy Spin Dryer or Dexter Quick twin for their maiden wash...

Ugh!

They both need tickled...

But yes... 'someone'... namely Jerry chose a date (LOL) that I can't make... HAHA! So I can't make it... Maybe next time... And I wouldn't have to make a 9 hour long journey!!

I'll be expecting pics and videos though fellas!! And yes - would love to meet and see everyone too of course!!

Yeah, June is one long Pride Fest. Then there's July Fourth. The weekend after that everyone's too exhausted to even think about doing anything...

Last year was especially bad (crowd-wise) in NYC. Not only did it seem like a million and one non-Pride meetings/conventions take place, turnout for the parade was higher than normal in response to Orlando. A surprising number of jaded NY-ers said, "Well, sh*t. Now I HAVE to go to the parade." Let's hope this year is less stressed.
---------------------
Easy and Dexter? I confess I was never interested in twin-tub anything until Martin set one of his on cinder blocks to raise it up high enough for me to look at and use without my arthritis complaining. Now I definitely see the attraction:-) If you have a large amount of laundry you can get a therapeutic rhythm going... Good for the nerves. Of course, you then need dryers to keep uo with the output:-)

My lust object is still a Thor, though. A combination dishwasher and washer: what's not to love?

Jim

Well thank goodness! That ought to keep the laundry miscreants away. I heard one of them put softener in the detergent dispenser and detergent in the softener dispenser. Beast!

First: Bump.

Second: Wound up explaining the VERY basics of Lustron homes the other day. Then I got to thinking... I thought I read something, somewhere about there being a few in the Pittsburgh area. Yet when I looked I found nothing. Wishful thinking on my part?

Thanks,

I'm trying.

volvoguy87's profile picture
I couldn't get Friday off, but I requested Monday. We'll see if it's approved. If so, I'll try and attend this year.

I got a 1951-ish Westinghouse slant front set. The top of one is destroyed. The washer is a LONG way from running, but I could see about bringing the dryer. I've not touched the dryer, so a WH slant front is all new to me. Sadly, it's the model which pre-dates the xylophone.

I hope to make it,
Dave

I had thought I might get to come and meet everyone, but I've had some major expenses in the last couple weeks. First the fallen oak tree, and now I have to have a tooth taken out next week. I also need to go visit my aunt in Mississippi mid-summer as she is turning 90 the end of July, and I need to get new tires for my Escape before then. Pittsburgh is about 5 hrs. away, and that would be a lot of driving to go there and back in one day.

Important Duquesne (du kane) Incline Information!

moparwash's profile picture
If you are riding the incline, the fare is $2.50 in cash each way (up/down)in exact change, so please bring four one dollar bills and $1.00 in quarters. For those at home wondering where the catchy name came from...here it is direct from Wikipaedia:

Fort Duquesne (/du¢°ˈkeɪn/, French: [dyken]; originally called Fort Du Quesne) was a fort established by the French in 1754, at the convergence point of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers in what is now downtown Pittsburgh in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It was destroyed by the British, and replaced by Fort Pitt in 1758. The site of both forts is now occupied by Point State Park, where the outlines of the two forts have been laid in brick.
